About
Me
I was born in the beautiful city of Rio de Janeiro,
Brazil. The city's breathtaking scenery provided an
excellent backdrop for my early photography.
In 1985 I came to United States and began my formal
study of photography at Santa
Monica College in Los Angeles. During my years in
Southern California I was active in the photography
business, working as a photographer's assistant for
photographers such as Brian Leng (fashion
photography), Andrew Strauss (commercial photography)
and Craig Ferry (portrait photography). From them, I
learned many techniques which I have incorporated into
my own style of people photography.
In 1994 I moved to Santa Cruz. Like Rio, Santa Cruz
offers a tremendous amount of
scenic, natural backdrops for photographing people. I
love to photograph people and
capture their moods and special attributes. Shooting
outdoors whenever possible, I believe leads to a more
natural, relaxed setting and outcome.
I have been involved in many shows around Santa Cruz
County and the Bay Area
including San Francisco where I've exhibited various
times with other artists. I was also interviewed in "Brazil Explore" magazine November 2006. My
portfolio includes cover shots and photographs for
newspapers and books such as "Healthy at 100" by John
Robbins, "I Thought We'd Never Speak Again" by Laura
Davis and "The Double Goddess" by Vicki Noble. I've
photographed musicians, business people, family
portraits, weddings, pregnant women and schools.
I enjoy photographing both people and scenery. I hope
you can see my enthusiasm in the pictures themselves.
Thank you!
