I was born in the beautiful city of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
The city's breathtaking scenery provided an excellent backdrop
for my early photography.
In
1985 I came to United States and began my formal study of
photography at Santa Monica College, Los Angeles. During my
years in Southern California I was active in the photography
business working as a photographer assistant for photographers,
such as Brian Leng (fashion photography), Andrew Strauss (commercial
photography) and Craig Ferry (portrait photography). From
them I've learned many techniques which I have incorporated
into my own style of people photography.
In 1994 I moved to Santa Cruz. Like Rio, Santa Cruz offers
a tremendous amount of scenic, natural backdrops for photographing
people. I love to photograph people and capture their moods
and special attributes. Shooting outdoors wherever possible
leads to a more natural, relaxed setting and outcome.
I have been involved in many shows around the Santa Cruz County
and the Bay Area, including San Francisco where I've exhibited
various times with the Brazilian Cultural Movement. My portfolio
also includes covers and photographs for newspapers and books.
I enjoy photographing people and I hope you can see more of
my enthusiasm in the pictures themselves.
